The year 2020 has been a year full of challenges and surprises. Way back in 2019, people are pregnant for a prosperous and victorious year to come. Australian Bushfires- Australia encounters one of its most disastrous wildfires as the fire blazes continue from December 2019 to early 2020, leaving a record of burned 4 million acres, killed more than 30 people, and displaces thousands of people.

The Covid-19 Pandemic- Small things can reshape the world. Last December 2019, the news has emerged that China had begun monitoring a significant outbreak of a new pneumonia-like virus and reported in January 2020 its first case and causality of this virus. Many countries are greatly affected and until now suffering from this outbreak. The year 2020 was closed, hoping for a positive result of formulating vaccines.

Kobe Bryant’s Death- January 26, 2020, broke the heart of many basketball fanatics because one of the legends died with his daughter in a helicopter crash. Seven other people were in their helicopter and reported bruised and broken.

Donald Trump Impeachment– Trump was ultimately acquitted by the Senate on February 5, 2020. Charges are being discussed because of Trump’s move to investigate former president Joe Biden and his son Hunter.

Stock Market Decreased- With the worldwide pandemic, the economic system went low. It also triggered the global recession as countries are in lockdown. Market stocks are affected and in result, brings total markdown.

Black Lives Matter Campaign- With the police-involved killings of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and more black Americans- the people are triggered to seek peace through violence. Riots are seen anywhere to demand an end to worldwide police brutality and racial injustice.

Murder Hornets- The Asian Giant Hornet, known as the invasive insect was spotted for the first time stateside when they began invading Washington. With a measure of two inches, this insect is believed that can have wiped out an entire colony within hours.

Beirut Explosion- People are alarmed in Beirut last August 2020 because of the massive explosion. The accidental detonation of thousand tons of ammonium nitrate killed almost 200 people, injured thousands of residents, and affected vast buildings in the area.

West Coast Wildfires– Deadly wildfires erupted and burned from California to the Washington States. It ignited a million acres and displaced hundreds of thousands of people in the mid of August.

Oil Prices Tank- For many oil producers and companies, twenty is not a good year. The outbreak of Covid-19 sent the economies worldwide into a tailspin, depressing the high oil demand.

Covid -19 Vaccine Rollout-  December 14, 2020, when the Worldwide Food and Drug Organization approved the emergency use of Pfizer’s Covid-19 vaccine shots. The arrival of this vaccine marks history as one of the most outstanding scientific achievement. With this, everyone leaves 2020 with a hopeful perspective of a victorious 2021.
